SAR survey of potential host campuses for scholars/practitioners from Afghanistan

Scholars at Risk (SAR) has begun to receive a high volume of applications from scholars/practitioners in Afghanistan due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions in the country. Most are individuals who have publicly supported, through their teaching, research, publications or public activities, a pluralist, rights-respecting, democratic future for Afghanistan, and as a result face a grave and immediate risk of retaliatory violence.

SAR is conducting a survey to assess the potential of SAR network-member campuses to offer temporary hosting opportunities, and for what types of candidates and under what circumstances (credentials, department/disciplines, language skills, family size, scheduling, costs). We request you share this survey widely on campus with faculty from various departments and programs – including, but not limited to, regional, legal, gender studies, political science, philosophy, religion, human rights and additional appropriate centers, as you see fit. You and your colleagues‘ timely responses will help us to develop opportunities for as many scholars/practitioners as possible. In the coming weeks SAR will also reach out to central administration on our member campuses to encourage and gauge support for hosting.

(PLEASE NOTE: Completing this survey is NOT a formal commitment to host anyone, but merely an indication of your interest in hosting and willingness to consider suitable candidates in the future.) Thank you for your participation.
